Simple Methods in Softball Hitting
Aside from pitching and fielding, softball hitting is one of the most important skills that you must have if you are interested to play softball. From afar, seeing the batters hit the ball looks very easy but then I am telling you, before they were able to do that amazing hit they have spent a lot of time and effort. Hitting is not a skill that you can acquire anytime you want to have it because it is an unending learning process. Even those who are already professionals in playing softball are still practicing the proper ways to hit because not one can really have that power to perfect it.
Though it is not very easy to learn this skill, you must keep in mind that this is the way to keep you and your team on the game. Bats are very important in softball hitting so your choice of bat is truly significant. Once you have the bat that matches you then you can go on to discover and learn a lot of things regarding softball hitting. The following are some methods that you need to learn and remember:
Grip. This is the way you hold your bat. Don’t you know that this can also affect the way you hit? You must not hold your bat too tight or too loose. Just hold it right, the way you think you are comfortable enough. You must also watch your position because if you have the correct position then you will surely hit the ball hard.
Swing. During the time that you are preparing to hit the ball, you must not only swing your hands, swing you arms, shoulder, hips, and trunk as well. These will surely create coordination on your body. But then again, even though you are doing the proper way to swing, right timing should also be taken into consideration.
Stance. You must not follow the stance that is used by great players because this might not work for you. There is really lots of stance that is why there is no absolute stance to follow. Just make sure that you are in a comfortable stance when you stand. Keep your feet not too far apart. This will ensure a good stance.
Stride. As I have said, timing is very important in softball hitting. If you stride ahead or behind the time you will not surely hit a ball and this will affect you and your whole team. This will have a big impact on the game. That is why focusing on the pitcher is essential so that when he throws the ball you can stride accurately.
