Practice softball drills and conquer the whole game
You know that a good hitter is the key on every teamâs success. But do you also know that a good hitter cannot beat a good pitcher? Just like softball hitting, softball pitching is one of the most difficult positions in the field of softball. This skill requires a lot of your mental ability to think what be the perfect strategy you will use while keeping yourself concentrated while you are inside the diamond. A good pitcher must have a wide knowledge on the different softball drills which can elevate your pitching skills.
Magnificent softball pitching is not a natural skill, instead it is developed. There are a lot of reasons why you need to practice your softball drills. First, so that you can identify the key parts of motion and you can concentrate with it making you learned the skill in just a short span of time. Second, so that you can repeat your movement not only once, but many times. With this kind of training you will become familiar the different pitching mechanics. Before you can make a perfect pitch, you must get the correct form.
Here are some of the famous softball drills to make an excellent pitch.
Static pitching â you will throw the ball towards the catcher. You should face the catcher about 8 to 20 meters away. You must throw the ball in windmill motion while your feet remain steady in place. Rotate your body in full motion. You should start in easy pace and if you are already comfortable with your motion, you can add more speed into it. this drills is useful in developing the upper body rotation which increases your pitching power. Dry pitching â this drill can be started with the typical pitching position, long step forward, and stride foot in front of pivot foot. Pitch your arm in continuous full circle at a rate of 1 minute per second. Aim to head your rounding circles to your target with your arms close to head at top. Your arm must meet your hips at point of release on each repetition. This is essential in developing a perfect circle and to promote the coordination of your arm and hips. Pendulum drill â you can start this drill with a long step forward, with your foot in stride position in front of your pivot foot. The hand you are using in your pitching should be place down to the release point and hold it tight against body for a second. Your weight should be at your back foot. You must finish the movement by forcing the body and your hips forward by pushing hard with your pivot foot. When you become comfortable with your movements, allow your arm to swing right through without pausing. Just make sure that the arm continues to brush your hip each time you do it. This will increase your throwing skills with your whole body working.
These are a lot of softball pitching drills that you can try to improve your pitching skills. You must have a self discipline and determination so that you can reach you goal in becoming the best pitcher.
