Planning for a team building is a very hard task. If you are a coach in such a team most particularly in softball, you have the tendency to focus most of your time in the development of their attitudes because you believe that a team without a good attitude even though it wins will never become a true winner at the end of the day.

A team is as strong as its strongest member. A team cannot live by one player working alone. A team is not one, it is all for one, and one for all. A team is definitely a group of individuals who are fighting for the same or common cause. A team shall therefore work according to its capacity and that capacity should be built more in order to generate more capabilities. Once a team encourages an increase of its efforts, this already means that there is something that is constantly motivating them.

The coach should also see how a team is being motivated so that he will achieve on thinking of more and more strategies that will make his team more and more motivated. It is also important that a coach shall make an effort of treating his team more passionately so that the members can feel that while they are away from their families, they still have a family in the name of their team. Building a family-like team is really needed so that everything will run according to its pace.

There is also a need for every coach and every player to have attitudes that will serve as their motivation before they plan on starting off their softball drills. The attitudes must also be learned selflessly. This means that your goodness should be shared with other team so that every team will also play with the same vision as yours, that is, to play a clean and fun game.

The rightful knowledge of the things underlying each softball drills must be studied carefully so prior to its implementation, you will explain to the players what attitude you shall use in the achievement of the certain softball drill that you have to train them.

As a coach, you must also understand that your team members vary from each other. It is therefore needed that while you are incorporating different attitudinal skills to your softball players, you fairly evaluate those players who are having a hard time making their bad attitudes turn into a good one. Try as much as possible to identify the cause of this. The moment that you have discovered the reason for the problem, you may talk with the concerned individual. It is important that both of you should talk in private so that you will show respect his personal life.

The job of a coach is not only confined inside every court. It goes beyond what the public eye can see. It is more on becoming a teacher, a second parent and a best friend to their players. Without the coaches’ patience, determination and love for the players and the game, there will be no success, real success.

For sure the strategies of your team will remain as a secret by using these signs. Machine hitting. This drill will focus in improving the hitting skill of a player. You need to prepare ball that are green and blue in color. Hide the balls before putting them on a pitching machine. Tell your players to hit the green and bunt the blue. This will help your players to improve their focus and concentration.

Practice softball drills and conquer the whole game

Static pitching – you will throw the ball towards the catcher. You should face the catcher about 8 to 20 meters away. You must throw the ball in windmill motion while your feet remain steady in place. Rotate your body in full motion. You should start in easy pace and if you are already comfortable with your motion, you can add more speed into it. this drills is useful in developing the upper body rotation which increases your pitching power. Dry pitching – this drill can be started with the typical pitching position, long step forward, and stride foot in front of pivot foot. Pitch your arm in continuous full circle at a rate of 1 minute per second. Aim to head your rounding circles to your target with your arms close to head at top. Your arm must meet your hips at point of release on each repetition. This is essential in developing a perfect circle and to promote the coordination of your arm and hips. Pendulum drill – you can start this drill with a long step forward, with your foot in stride position in front of your pivot foot. The hand you are using in your pitching should be place down to the release point and hold it tight against body for a second. Your weight should be at your back foot. You must finish the movement by forcing the body and your hips forward by pushing hard with your pivot foot. When you become comfortable with your movements, allow your arm to swing right through without pausing. Just make sure that the arm continues to brush your hip each time you do it. This will increase your throwing skills with your whole body working.

These are a lot of softball pitching drills that you can try to improve your pitching skills. You must have a self discipline and determination so that you can reach you goal in becoming the best pitcher.

Qualities that a Coach Must Have during Softball Drills

Few months from now, you and your team will be into a big softball competition. You will be facing some of the world’s greatest team. You are nervous but at the same time you are happy because being on that prestigious competition means they are also considering your team to be one of the best.

But then you must not be contented on the abilities and skills that your team possesses now. You must not depend on that and on luck alone. Being able to join that competition does not mean that you have to stop there and be contented. This just means that you have to work twice or even thrice than before. You just can’t simply bring those people who are relying on you down.

In preparation for that big game, you as the team’s coach must be the head of the softball drills. Softball drills are really needed so that your players will improved their talents and skills when it comes to hitting, pitching, and running. But then again you must not forget that you must not be contented in the traditional drills that your team has been doing for a long time now. While having softball drills, what are the qualities that a coach must have? Here are they:

Creative and innovative. As I have said, you must not be contented in the traditional drills because your opponent teams already have up to date drills to improve the players. You must see to it that you always have something new. Be creative and innovative in your drills. Your players will surely love this and they will persevere more because the drills are not boring and new. They will have fun and at the same time they will also learn new techniques which can help them a lot. To be able to create some new drills, you can read some books and magazines to get some ideas. You can also watch some videos of some games or better yet, do some research online and for sure you can see lots of drills out there which you can impart to your team. Be patient. This is a very important quality for a coach. There will be times that your players cannot do or perfect the drills at once. There are lots of reasons why they are like that. Maybe they are already tired or maybe the drill is just too hard to follow. You must be patient and try to control your temper. You must learn to understand their situation also. Yelling at them all the time will not have a good effect on them. Know when to give praises. If a player is doing great during the drills, you must give him some praises. Praises are needed to boost the confidence of a player. If they know that they are doing the right thing they will continue to improve that. But remember, you must not overdo this. Overdoing this will have a bad effect on your players.

Square up your shoulders and rotate the hips 45 degrees. Rotate the hips so that the feet move from one leg of the X to the other. In order to ensure the rotation of the lower body, you need to sweat your abs and core. Take note that the shoulders should be square and then proceed to pump your arms in the opposite direction of the legs. Make it a point to practice this agility drill for two sets of around five seconds and then work it up to a level of two sets of six to eight seconds.

The three hurdle drill is a type of baseball agility drills that will enable a player to have a more rapid response by quickening the feet. This will greatly improve the fielding range and greatly lend a hand in reducing the reaction time and pushes the speed and quickness for base running of the players.
